This past Friday my two related arts classes held a bake sale during all school lunches. Over the past few weeks the classes have been learning about Haiti and other current events. Students felt compelled to do something to help out people in Haiti and they decided on holding a bake sale to raise money. We raised over $260!! I was very impressed with my students and I am really glad we had a chance to make a difference in people's lives.

Bryan,
I am Brittany, a student from Cheryl's TE 402 class. For my literature discussion lesson, the students spoke about homelessness and its affects on society. In the end, my students hosted a canned food and supplies drive and collected over 26 bags of food and supplies! Service projects like bake sales and food drives really help to instill good citizenship in students. I hope to do more service projects during my internship year!

Brittany,
That sounds awesome! The bake sale was one of the most stressful days of my life because I had to be in two different places at one time (my CT was sick that day). At the end of the day though, it was worth it because the kids came together for a good cause and they learned a lot about working together for something bigger than themselves.
